Michael Rogge, a gentleman stationed in Hong Kong during the 40’s and 50’s and then Japan in the 50’s and 60’s, has uplaoded all of his (some in colour!) videos and pictures taken during those times. At 79, my hat goes off to him, not only for uploading all of these to share with the world, but for being computer savvy enough to do so.
As someone living in Hong Kong (and who lived in Japan for a while), I find these pictures and videos endlessly fascinating.
Sheung Wan (Western District) 1964 in colour!!
Squatter’s in the 60’s
Entering Hong Kong Harbour
The Peak
The Children of HK: 1964
Japan; City Life 1959
A day in Japan
Do check out the link for a LOT more videos.

Wow, Very interesting videos for sure!
I really enjoyed seeing the old boats… I now want to make my own… If only I could…

It’s amazing how much Hong Kong has changed, I’d say the population quadrupled since “the olden days”.
DjD, I’m pretty sure Sonny Chiba (As Golgo 13) WAS there, polishing his sniper rifle, a nice bellbottomed drug lord in his sights…
