I was pleasantly surprised by the ABC docu-drama Earth 2100 last night.

It is basically story of an old women in the year 2100, born in 2009, looking back on her life.
Her narrative is broken up by interviews with scientists and thinkers (like James Howard Kunstler who I am a fan of).

But from this blogs perspective, an interesting aspect is the fact that story of the women is told using anime! Or at least a “motion graphic novel” technique. Just take a look at the pictures below to give you an idea.

This had to be a first for American television. Animation used in a serious drama in prime time. This is a must see! 4 stars!

It hasn’t appeared on the usual torrent sites unfortunately. I don’t think ABC did a very good job in promoting it.

P.S. With Dane up to his neck in Diapers, and summer fast approaching (which means Dane heads back to Australia), getting another show out any time soon is looking unlikely. So everyone will have to made due with blog posts for now.

  1. Well, I wouldn’t say that. There’s still a month plus and I always can do the show from Australia as I’ve done before! As for this show, I’m extremely eager to see it!

  3. It looks like Blogsome finally got around to restoring your site. Glad to have you back!

I know I was a little scared that this was the end of AniPac. Scared and tired and maybe a little hungry. If anything, this catastrophe teaches us that life is precious and we must do all we can while we are still alive. That means release more episodes, dammit!

  4. The problem is that I am out east at the family cottage, and Dane is up to his bum in diapers and is off to Australia.

  5. Oh well, I guess we’ll just need to wait a little longer then. And if Dane wants to wear diapers, that’s his prerogative.

  6. Very funny Kent!

For the record, I will state that I am, and have been more free to record a podcast now more than ever!
