As I am sure most of you know by now, Sam Raimi is set to Direct a World of Warcraft movie.

Warcraft

My first thoughts:

1) Hurrah! A big budget fantasy movie! Not too often we get those. We had Conan in the 80s (Willow too), Lord of the Rings in the 90s, and now Warcraft.

2) Can it possibly be any good? Movies based on video games have a very poor record.

3) It is probably going to be PG. The movie is going to be big budget, and they will want to draw in the teenagers. I know all ages play the game, but a lot of kids do too.

4) Which means, no nudity, no blood! I want gore, boobs and hot chicks in my Warhammer (er I mean ‘Warcraft”) movie darn it. But.. sadly probably wont happen.

5) What does Dane think? He loves fantasy movies and Sam Raimi - Evil Dead (not to mention spiderman!), but dislikes MMRPGs. hmmm does he have mixed feelings?

  1. I’m actually quite excited about it! I do love Sam Raimi, so there’s certainly potential for awesome. I recall reading how it would be a PG-13 war film, although that was before the Sam Raimi announcement: One year before!

All the ingredients for disaster are there, but certain ingredients to circumvent disaster are also present.

I think a PG-13 rating would fit it well; we’ll get the bikini clad dark elf girls at least. If Bruce Campbell is in it, it’ll definitely seal the deal!

  2. Warcraft was good before it became a MMORPG. Lets hope they keep out all the stuff that made the last game such a shitfest shall we :P

    Ps. Big Raimi fan ;)
